I've asked you girls for ideas a time or two for this party, but it's finally here: just 7 days. Help me make sure I've got all the bases covered.
~25 girls. Invitation says "cookies & cocoa," and it's at 7pm, so people know to eat dinner before they come.
Drinks
2 bottles of red wine
3 bottles of white wine
Alcoholic punch
Skim and 2% milk
Cocoa
Sodas
Apps
Cheese & crackers
Knorr's cold spinach dip
Sweets
Thin Mint brownies
Peppermint sugar cookies (someone offered to bring)
Molasses spice cookies (I'm famous for these)
Jam thumbprints
Snickerdoodles
Cake mix cookies (what flavor?)
Pirouettes (those twirly choc-hazelnut things at the grocery store which I love and want an excuse to buy lol)
Questions
1. Do the wine qtys sound right? I'm not a wine drinker, so I just don't know. This group can drink, but I live a ways out, so they'll all have to drive home. The punch is delicious, so I expect a number of drinkers will go to it.
2. Would you do both 2% and skim milk? Maybe compromise with 1%? Am I being dumb and we don't need milk? lol I was going to do cute labeled carafes in an ice bucket.
3. Since you all practically unanimously suggested cake mix cookies, what flavor would you do?
4. Would you trade in or add these items: choc-toffee cheeseball or mini tollhouse pie bites? The ingredients are in my pantry. I'm wondering if changing the type of dessert would add more interest.
5. Anything missing?
Re: Double-check my menu & final Qs
For my group, that wouldn't be enough wine. You get about 4-5 glasses per bottle, and I'd count on a lot of people having about 2 glasses. Personally, I'd go for the wine over the punch. Maybe in lieu of punch, I'd offer creme de cacao or Bailey's for those who want to spike their hot cocoa. I don't think that you need to offer a million types of milk. I'd just do skim and call it a day, but 2%'s fine.
Since someone is bringing peppermint cookies, I'd do regular brownies. You should also offer something with nuts since you already have fruit and chocolate covered. Maybe pecan or pistachio pralines. I have no idea what cake mix cookies are, so I'm no help there.
I think you can get away with only one type of milk.
Quantity of wine sounds ok. I keep an extra bottle or two on the side, but you know your crowd - if you think they'll stick with punch, you should be ok. (Also consider whether anyone will bring a bottle - you can always stick that out).
The only thing I might consider adding is another savory appetizer, perhaps something a bit heavier. Maybe a chicken satay or nugget (we do Chic-fil-a platters) that can be served at room temperature? Or a shrimp cocktail?
Otherwise, everything sounds great!
Definitely not enough wine!
I'd do one milk or none...is it for the cocoa? I would expect most will stick to the "adult" drinks. I'd have some kahlua for the cocoa though.
It's for the cookies. You know, "cookies & milk!"

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
1. I think you need more wine. You can always use the extra as gifts later if you have leftover. I would say at at least 4 red and 4 white for 25 ladies.
2. 1% sounds like a good compromise
3. I've never made cake mix cookies, but maybe vanilla would be a good flavor to add to your selection of sweets. (since you have chocolate and spice covered).
4. I think you're good as-is.
5. I like PP's suggestion of Bailey's. Since it'll be a long drive home, maybe you should have coffee on-hand when people start heading out.
GL! Sounds like a lot of fun.
1. Add a few more bottles of wine and drop the punch. I'd also add water or iced tea- something non sweet and non alcoholic.
2. Do whatever you normally drink for milk.
3. I know nothing about cake mix cookies
4. I think the cookie mix sounds just fine.
5. I would add some baby carrots and cucumber to the spinach dip. It won't be hard or expensive to add.
It's the Christmas season, so do Red Velvet Cake Mix Cookies. YUMMY!!
Definitely more wine, and I agree with the others who said more wine and at least one heavier app.

Hi Dear! This looks awesome here is my 2 cents:
1. More RED wine - most wine drinkers I know drink more red in the winter and white in the summer (since you entertain a lot -perhaps consider buying a case for a discount - We like Nathanson Creek's Merlot from CA which is really good and not too expensive).
2. Keep the punch. Who doesn't like punch?
3. Keep the mint things - (both cookies and brownies) is very seasonal.
4. Milk is awesome with cookies - only need one type (1 or 2 percent).
5. Perhaps one more savory (easy for you to do) app.
Cheers!
