What do you think about the name Amani Terez R. for a girl? My husband loves the name and has ever since I've known him and is persistent that we name our daughter that if we have one. I'm not in love with Amani, but I can tolerate Terez since it is his sister's middle name. (His family is from France and have "French-ish" middle names for both children...Rusty's real name is Russell Pierre).
My choice is Jaidyn Elizabeth R. I've always loved the name Jaidyn and Elizabeth is my mother's name.
He told me that I hurt his feelings by telling him I wasn't really in love with Amani.
What do you think?
Re: random BR question
I think you're going to have to discuss it with Rusty and come with up a name you both love.
I am not a fan of any of those names except Elizabeth. But it's not my kid.
Truthfully......
Sorry, I think the whole thing is awful.
I'm not a fan of the name, but it's not my kid, there are a lot of names I'm not onboard with.
You could try what I keep telling DH, he gets the last name, I get the other 2.

You both need to love the name 100 percent.. Remember there are thousands of names you both can look at, I'm sure you can find one you both are in love with...
Honestly the names above are not my style at all but you should name your kids whatever you want.. Good luck
LOL Thanks ladies.
Yes, I posted this knowing that not everyone would LOVE any of the names (Amani, Jaidyn...or Jayden...or Jaden...or however we decide to spell it) I'm not looking for approval (Should I name my child this???) Not at all. Not everyone is going to agree on anyone name for whatever children we have in the future. I'm looking more for a mutual agreement that Amani is just horrible and shouldn't even be an idea. Everyone I've talked to thinks it's pretty bad. I don't even know where it came from.
Trying to convince each other to love the name you already love is going to be difficult. There are thousnds of names out there, sit down and talk through them together. You both really need to like the name.
BTW, did I miss an announcement or is this hypothetical?
Nothing a little girl is going to hate more than being called "A man" jokingly on the playground.
That said, I looked it up, because I had a feeling:
Amani means "desires, aspirations, wishes" and is of Swahili origin.
I guessed it might be, as I have good friends (indian) who named their soon Armaan, which means "wish or longing". (they'd tried so long with fertility efforts, it seemed appropriate).
Jaidyn to me is just (a) getting to be super common (b) isn't a traditional name in any culture, and was just "invented" in America in the last 20 years or so (b) too boy-or-girly that it isn't gender specific enough (c) is just a playground for random and "creative" spellings - I'm never a fan of that.

this.
nevermind that i'm not a fan of the names but, you should never name a child something you both don't agree on or both LOVE. it's just too permanent and personal. you both have names that eachother doesn't like so you take them off the table and start fresh. otherwise, you are always going to hold it against the other person that they didn't get 'their' name and the kid is both of yours so it should be a joint decision.

It makes me think you don't know how to spell Armani properly.
You could always have Amani and Gocci for your twin girl names, haha.

hahaha This is exactly what I told Rusty when he first told me. Not to mention everyone he's told about the name thinks he's saying "Armani". It cracks me up.
