14 foot Christmas tree! Need a tree skirt

This is the biggest tree we've ever had - it's crazy tall. The limbs have come down since last night and it's gorgeous.

Where can a get a tree shirt big enough for this monster?  My MIL suggested getting a big, round table cloth and cutting it.

Here's a picture of my 2.5 year old next to it. It's a beast.

Re: 14 foot Christmas tree! Need a tree skirt

  • I found this on Etsy by searching for extra large tree skirt. But honestly, I think you MIL has the right idea.  I think this Etsy skirt is really just a 70" tablecloth, with some snowflakes sewn on.  I bet you could even make a cute one with handprints of your boys.

  • That is a gorgeous tree! Makes me want to go back to getting real trees.

I think the table cloth would work the best. You can chose a round size that works from somewhere like homegoods. They have a ton of colors too.

  • Wow, that tree is great!   I hope you post a picture for us once it's all decorated!!!

Tablecloth is great or a flat sheet - they make so many now in great holiday patterns.  We only have a very small fake tree this year since we are moving on the 29th and I actually used a white pillow case for a skirt and it looks fine.

  • WOW that makes my 10 foot tree look like a midget!  So pretty :)

    Had to post this pic!

  • Use a quilt or blanket!  You can find one in any color, or even use the white reverse, and they bunch up nicely.  You probably even have something in your linen closet now you could use.  I did it a few years ago and it looked lovely - I liked the volume, actually, instead of a dinky flat circle.
  • My tree is a beast, too.... in fact, that's why I started making the extra large skirts for them.  Yes, it's a round red table cloth -- I used heat-applied flocking that I cut into snowflake shapes.  I've also started using the flock as trim around the center hole that I cut.

If you're going to make one yourself, BE AWARE that depending on the fabric, it may fray - and fray quickly.  You need to keep it in place when cutting.  I use more heat applied vinyl so I don't have any fraying - but you need a commercial heat press to affix that.  Let me know if you run into any problems when you make it.

  • I just have to say that your tree is awesome!! How the heck are you going to put your topper star/angel/whatever on top?
  • For family christmas card pics, we painted a ladder white, striped it with thick red velvet ribbon to look like a candy cane, and all 8 of us were on the ladder or in front.  they were great pics!
  • I am having the exact same problem.  We have a new house with cathedral ceilings and I need a tree skirt for our 14 foot tree.  I think I will look at table clothes --I have spent all morning looking for tree skirts big enough and the few I have found are over 500 dollars!

    Thanks for the idea!

  • I may have the answer if you really want a beautiful tree skirt that will accentuate that gorgeous tree let me know.  I specialize in extra large tree skirts.  At this point my largest skirt is 90" but I have no problem making a larger pattern if needed.  The 90" skirt was designed for trees 12 feet or more.  They are beautiful, very nicely Handmade. and of excellent materials. Check out my website at www.treeskirtstore.com.  They are not cheap in any sense of the word.  I do not make cheap products and they are not really inexpensive the idea is to make you a tree skirt that your grand children will fight over.  If you do not see what you want feel free to contact me for a consultation and possible quality special order.  This is a great time for it as there is still a lot of time before christmas.  I have a 5 star rating from customers and have placed tree skirts all over the USA and in several foreign countries.
