DH and I currently live in VA are hoping to relocate to Charlotte sometime this spring.
Does anyone have any tips for looking for jobs long-distance? I saw in a post below that craiglist was recommended... I already looked there but didn't find anything recent. I googled Charlotte's newspaper and found the Charlotte Observer online, but the job section is through careerbuilder.com and I have already been keeping my eye out there.
DH has his B.S. in chemistry. I have my B.S. in nutrition & exercise science and my MSed in health education. We both have 2.5 years job experience.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Charlotte Job Search
You can try watching N.C. Biotechnology Center's website for jobs, or look at the local colleges' websites (UNC-Charlotte might be a good one for a science job). They post a lot of jobs on their own websites instead of on career builder or in the paper. Also try looking at the county's website. Charlotte is in Mecklenburg County. I applied for a job in Guilford county through their website, I know Guilford county post most teaching jobs and science (forensics) jobs on the county website. Sometimes the Universities use the county website too, if it's a UNC system school especially. I can keep my ear to the ground for you, I work in a non-profit Biotech company in Durham/Raleigh (Research Triangle Park) and they will put postings on the bulletin boards occasionally for opportunities through out the state.
Are you set on relocating to Charlotte? He will probably have a lot more success finding a job in Research Triangle Park, I know when I was job hunting there were tons more Chemistry jobs posted than Biology.
We are not set but it seemed like the job market was best there for chem majors.
What's the Research Triangle Park?
Research Triangle Park is a large area in Raleigh-Durham-Cary that is just full of different Biotech companies and government agencies. Here's a link to the website of RTP.
There's over 170 companies (I'm quoting the website), it's one of the world's largest science parks in the world, and is the oldest continuously running science park.
Companies like GSK, Syngenta, Talecris, and government agencies like the EPA, USDA are in RTP. When it comes to trying to find science jobs, it's the place to look. I commute an hour from the Greensboro/Burlington area to work over here, I couldn't find anything in that area after I got laid off from my job in Winston-Salem.
Also, Duke, UNC and NC State are also over in this area.
