Re: **Mitzzi**

  • We are staying at the Renaissance. I can't wait, I have wanted to go to Aruba for a long time. We were supposed to go over Christmas but had to switch it to February. Where did you stay? And any recommendations of restaurants or things to do?

  • We stayed at the Ren!! We loved it...you'll get all kinds of advice but we did the all-inclusive: which was the resturants at the marina and the suites and there are a strip of resturants across the street from the marina side so we tried them...but there are many options for food on a budget if you dont go all inclusive....

We rented a jeep and drove all over the island- we went to the natural bridge and attempted to go to the natural pools (but the moutain side was very scary...)- We did massages at the spa, and spent a WHOLE lot of time at the swim up bar and on the private island.

We also did the kukukanuku party bus...you do a sunset champagne toast at the light house- then dinner at what used to some diplomats house and then they take you to 4 "local" bars and then drop you at your hotel afterwards- it was a crazy night and if you buy the "water" bottle  refills are 5 bucks at each bar...

We went to the aruban history show at the town center too- they have food and craft vendors and a song and dance show...it was interesting.

I was also really lucky at the hotel casino....

DH has a college buddy who lives there so we went out with him two nights and saw how the locals live....

I'm super jealous!! You are going to love it!

  • Thanks for the ideas!  I am sure we will spend plenty of time at the swim up bar as well...that is usually our favorite spot on vacation.
