I need ideas....

So, we're doing Christmas with my in laws early because they have crazy work schedules and we live in different cities...blah blah. Well, I offered to have Christmas on the 18th at our house and I offered to make dinner. Here's where you wonderful ladies come to my rescue. Codys parent's are picky eaters...super picky..anytime we go out to dinner its hamburgers or pizza and so I have no idea what to cook for that night. Should I just make traditional turkey and some potatoes and a another side with an apple pie? If you have any recipes I'd love to hear them. Keep in mind....I'm not a cook...I'm just now starting to dabble and I'm scared lol. Thanks!

Re: I need ideas....

  • I would do a turkey and potatoes and something basic like green beans or whatever kind of veggie you know they'll eat. My family are all super-picky eaters, too (Mom hasn't had an onion in the house since she married my dad 35 years ago because he won't eat food that has even been NEAR an onion; I kid you not).

I did Thanksgiving for Matt's family this year, and I am not an experienced cook, either. Everything turned out okay, though. I used this turkey recipe and it came out great.

  • Could you get away with doing a lasagna?  It's nice cause it's something that you can make before hand.  Then just make a simple salad and some garlic bread.

Or will they not eat Italian?? HAHAHA!

  • I vote lasagna.... A turkey can be a bit challenging if you don't feel particularly comfortable cooking
  • I agree with pp's, lasagna sounds like a good idea.

  • In the 9 years that Cody and I have been together I have never once seen his family eat Italian food. I'll ask Cody what he thinks though because that sounds delightful.
