battery question

I really need to post over here more often and not just the bump. It was nice to meet some of you at the cookie exchange Smile

So my stupid question of the night is about batteries. A two parter. 1st with rechargable batteries does anyone know are you supposed to unplug once they are charged? Can I just leave it plugged in all the time and pull batteries out as I need them? 2nd If I do have to unplug them how long will they stay charged? It's not like I need batteries all the time but I don't want them to be dead if I do.

Thanks so much!

Re: battery question

  • I don't know what you are supposed to do, but we unplug them after they are charged.  They stay charged for a while.  We've never had an issue with them being dead when we go to use them.

  • I don't know what you're SUPPOSED to do, but growing up we always had the charger plugged in in the basement and we would just pull them out when we needed them.

  • Hi!  I enjoyed meeting you, too :)

Anyway, I'm no expert but batteries do lose charge over time and it generally takes awhile for them to do so completely.  If they have damaged cells (usually older batteries) they tend to lose charge faster.  I think when you leave them plugged in they continue to draw electricity?  Growing up we used to charge a batch and then keep them in a box until ready to use.
