I don't know your history but if you are looking for a long term position this may not be the right fit. I would avoid this company. B of A is buying them and now B of A is in the process of purchasing Merrill - I would think eventually (within 1-2 years) they will be downsizing. If you are looking for something now for income and don't care what happens in the future than go for it.

However, on the plus side, these aquisitions can take a long time before complete.

Maybe you're right, maybe it wouldn't matter which dept since no one maybe totally "safe".  Like Switzerland mentions, maybe this will be good short term, but not long.

Will it be a lateral move for you?

The aunt is one of the bigwigs there and my MIL also works there. From what I hear they have already done most of their downsizing - and I would think that a job in their legal dept would be stable, especially since they are hiring after the buyout.  I say go for it. What location are they hiring for?

They are hiring at a bunch of locations in the Ventura area including Calabasas.
