Kelly

Re: Kelly

  • It was actually just a 10k, so to run a marathon, I'd have to tack on another 20 miles... which was not happening, trust me! I don't know how people do that.

But anyway, it went really well. It was 32 degrees and snowing, so I wasn't too sure on the drive out (and it was an hour and a half from home, so I had quite a while to think it over). There wasn't too much snow on the ground, though, and the trail went through wooded areas with lots of streams, so it was a really pretty route. I finished in 62 minutes and ONE second. So that's pretty much exactly a 6 mph or 10-minute-mile pace, which was at the high end of the range I was hoping for. I even slowed down for a couple of water breaks and stopped at the restroom just past the halfway point, so if I hadn't done that, I probably would have come in even faster.

Matt was a great cheerleader and took this picture of me as I was approaching the finish line (obviously, he forgot to reset the date on his camera when he changed the batteries):

  • Wow, way to go Kelly!! I don't think I could do a 10K in calm, 65 degrees and breezy weather, let alone the cold like that.
  • Great job Kelly! I saw the pictures you posted on FB!
