Planning a trip to S. FL
Hi ladies,
I live in Chicago but one of my best friends is getting married in West Palm Beach area next October, the week after my and DH's first anniversary.
I've actually never been to FL and one of the places on our list of US cities we want to see is the Keys. Ideally we'd like to visit the Key for a few nights and drive (in a rented car) to WPB for the wedding.
We're investigating the cheapest route to take, btwn flying (into the Keys, WPB (PBI airport) or Miami and renting a car to drive to locations. Any thoughts? Or suggestions of Keys hotels?
In general we're just trying to get a rough cost for the total trip right now.

It's probably going to be cheaper to do a round trip flight into either PBI, MIA, or FLL. From my experience, flights from Chicago into FLL tend to be cheaper (I am originally from the Milwaukee area and fly up to see my family a lot). You can probably get a good price on a direct flight on southwest (Midway to FLL). Once you land, just rent a car for the week.
Do you have an idea of how much you want to spend on a hotel in the keys? Do you want to stay in Key West or in the middle upper keys? It's hard to give you a rec on hotels since there is such a wide variety.
