... go to websites when looking for a job?
Re: What are your...

Thanks girls, I kind of want to look for something different and possibly a little closer to home especially with the family planning talk getting more and more serious with each passing day.
I just nervous about apply because I am not the strangest interviewer and am worried no body would want me. = (I know major lack of confidence there... I went through a temp agency when I first moved here and got hired on permanent at my current job in 8 months. But I don't know if I want to take that chance again and we really need to have benefits. I wish I had some of the confidence you girls have...
I would search company websites of places you'd like to work. It's obviously hit or miss with who has job postings, but it's a great way to find a job with a place you are interested in.
That's how I found my internship/first accounting position.
I would utilize all sources but I like careerbuilder and jobing the best. Also, check around with friends/family to see if they know of anything that is available.
I'd be happy to meet with you to do mock interviewing and look over your resume. A job interview is like acting in a play... you just have to turn it on and be exactly who they want to be! You can do it!!
monster.com (not a favorite)
careerbuilder.com
there's a phx specific site - sorry, it's been a year so i don't remember the url, but it's on bill boards around town.
i also check out head hunter sites and buisness specific sites. (i know our co. isn't going through a head hunter anymore due to the economy)
last job i got was through a head hunter named medix, which is right by the scottsdale fashion square mall. they do health care placements (this includes billing - what i do - and other positions that do not require a health care certification)
another one i would recommend is office team. the office i went to was on scottsdale road just past shea. i worked with erin.
i think it was apple that i don't recommend. they were so dirty that i would never go back to their office again.
my read shelf:
I am a corporate recruiter and have also have worked as a "head hunter" (although we don't like that term). I would say figure out where you want to work and look at their sites. Also, if you know what industry you want to work in, start going to their networking events. I look at HUNDREDS of resumes a day, so if a co-worker recommends a friend or someone they met at a networking event, it moves that resume to the front of my pipeline. The saying "it is not what you know, but who you know" is 100% true, especially in an economy where the ratio of resumes submitted to jobs available is so huge.
As for job boards, the best one is www.indeed.com, it pulls from most job boards (except Craigslist) and company websites, so you can just go to one place and find all the jobs that are out there on the web.
Oh, and also, a third party recruiter is a good way to find out about jobs, but honestly, as a corporate recruiter I would pick someone I found myself over someone an agency recruiter brought me because of the fee we have to pay them. I have a certain budget I can spend on agency fees, so I am only going to use that fee on a very difficult, specialized position. I am not saying do not use a recruiter, but do not only go down that route.
Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!
Like previous posts have said, I would go through a specific company's website.
Just out of curiousity, what are you looking to get into? What part of area of town are you trying to work in?
Thank you girls for all the great advice, I really appreciate it all.
Sunset, I currently work as a loan processor for a pretty well known bank and work in Downtown PHX but I live in Surprise and driving 34.4 miles each way or a total of 45 - 60 minute commute each way is really starting to suck and not the best idea for when we have kids. =( But I would really like to switch it up and do some sort of admin asst kind of stuff, I feel those positions are much more mentally stimulating then what I currently do and would like to be closer to the west valley, like west PHX, Glendale, Peoria kind of area. I am just thinking with my husbands job being so unpredictable as far as if he would be able to get home or to day care in a hurry and me being all the way downtown it makes me nervous about when we have kids and something happens and we have to go get them one of us should be close and able to get wherever quickly.
I work as an auditor for loan modifications. But I am not on your side of town...it would be way further for you. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I would definitely take SimlyMistaken's advice - I have heard nothing but awesome thngs from Linkedin.
Thank you Sunset
Also SimlyMistaken thank you, I am going to check it out when I get home.
