Any fun holiday plans?

Is anyone going anywhere fun for the holidays. DH and I are just doing the parents circle in Michigan. Last year this time we were heading to Jamaica.... ahh... maybe again another year.

It will be great to see everyone. My sister's graduating and moving to Africa for a year so it'll be my last chance to see her for awhile unless I can come up with a serious travel budget!

Re: Any fun holiday plans?

  • I think we will be in the QC. I wanted to go to my brother's, but he opted to go home to the parents for a last hurrah. Traitor.

Wednesday is my work Holiday party. Other than that, not very holly jolly this year. We still have the clips from outdoor lights on our house... the lights are down (I pulled them down in April), but the clips require a ladder and balance. Maybe by 2011 Xmas that will be down.

  • We'll be coming to the QC as well.  It'll be our first married Christmas and both of our parents live in the QC, but it will still be interesting trying to coordinate schedules!

This past weekend we hosted a trolley party at our apt in Chicago.  It was really fun and with the first snowfall, it was the perfect start to December!

Can I ask what makes the party a trolley party??

  • We also have to split the holidays, it's tough but we make it work. We always spend the actual holiday of Christmas with DH's family. Then we head up to my parents after - about 5 days with each family. Being with my family after Christmas works better for my brother and his family so we adjust or schedule so we're there at the same time as them. It's a marathon, but it's fun! This year should be interesting with our move. We'll be lucky to make it to either celebration!

  • We're heading out west to Kansas City the evening of the 23rd and will come back on the 26th.

We grew up in the same town, so all of our family is there. DH's parents are divorced, though, so we go to a bunch of different places. Lots of eating. Yuck.
