Looking for a digital camera for a child
I would like to buy a 7-year-old a digital camera for Christmas but am still having problems trying to find something that is not that expensive and isn't too childish, but is a small challenge for her.
I have read reviews that the Disney ones aren't that great and the Fisher Price ones seem to be a little too childish for a 7-year-old. Does any one have any other suggestions in the $30-$50 range?
TIA!

Re: Looking for a digital camera for a child
We did some research on this for our soon-to-be 4yo and decided on the V-tech. It comes in a zillion colors, but of course we needed pink.
Our now 8-yo has been using regular adult digital cameras (our old ones after we upgraded) for several years now. He was also given a flip last Christmas from crazyindulgent relatives. He's very careful with all this equipment -- he knows it's special and that it can't be thrown around like a box of legos. I think 7 is old enough for a "real" camera.

PGAL/PAL Always Welcome
My parents bought DS a Sony digi at that age. If the kid has an interest, I'd buy a lower end real thing rather than some goofy kiddoe cam he'd outgrown in a year.
I'd also avoid Kodak. The Easyshare software runs almost continuously and will slow down your computer.
