s/o Christmas gifts - is this weird?

Ted & I don't exchange gifts with his brother & SIL, we only buy for our nephews.

Well, it was actually kinda awkward last year because we did get them something, but they didn't get us anything, so we aren't getting them anything this year & hopefully they won't get us anything either. There was no conversation about it... even thought I asked my H 1654123 times to please talk to his brother and just agree that we won't exchange gifts.

Can you tell we have a very passive-aggressive relationship with them/each other?

Re: s/o Christmas gifts - is this weird?

  • Nope, not weird. Get them something if you feel like it or don't. My bff and I technically don't exchange. But really, I buy her kids stuff and she always gets me something small. Are you close enough with your SIL to contact her directly?

Not really :/ I wish we were.

I really doubt they'll get us anything, so I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing.

  • I wouldn't worry about it, it sounds like gifts for just the kids will be fine.  That's pretty much what we've moved onto in my family as well.

  • Not weird.  We only buy for kids in our families.  Once you turn 16, you're SOL!

That's what my MIL & FIL always say, but they always buy gifts for everyone, lol. I get your meaning, though, & agree with it.
