Cookie Exchange Snack Menu

Help me plan a few salty/savory snacks and a drink/cocktail for my cookie exchange!

Re: Cookie Exchange Snack Menu

  • I am hosting one on the 19th...here is what I have so far (although, I am not serving the cookies...hence the rum balls =))

    Cajun Spinach Balls

    Red Pepper/Broccoli/Asiago Holiday Wreath

    Thai Appetizer Pizzas

    Veggies/spinach dip/humus

    Crackers/Cheese

    Rum Balls/Reindeer Droppings

    Happy Holidays!

  • How about a punch of some kind to drink, or maybe hot chocolate or coffee with Bailey's?

  • I'm also hosting an exchange on the 19th haha!  My menu so far is:

    Veggies/garlic parmesan dip

    Crab dip, triscuits, cheese

    Triple chocolate cake w/ icing

    Punch, coffee, and water

I'm also thinking about having a small candy buffet because my theme is "A Candy-Filled Christmas"  Not sure about that yet though...

This would be cute and festive!  With clear bowls of all different kinds of candies like non-parriels, red/green M&M's...actually any of the wrapped Christmas candy and put them around the serving area.

  • That's what I'm thinking Smile Honestly it will depend on the # of RSVPs I get.  I'm not going to bother with it if only a few are coming... I think I'll make candy jar favors if that's the case.
  • I hear that!  I have 9 people coming to mine...each bringing a dozen per person.  Just waiting on the final cookie recipes so I can start putting together the little recipe cards I plan on giving out to everyone.

I am also giving door prizes to the first RSVP'er and the first to arrive.  I made a "cookie cutter boquet" for them.  Then I am having them dressing "creatively" and giving a small Yankee Candle for the best outfit (judged by DH).  Then I have a trivia game as well that I haven't decided what I will give for that yet.

I also plan on having my Rankin Bass DVD plugged in for a continuous Christmas feel in the air!

BTW...calhoun...we are about an hour away from each other...I am in East Berlin.

  • Pillsbury has little frozen hors d'oeuvres called Savorings.  I bought the spinich and artichoke mini bread bowls....huge hit at my ladies' nite.  If you use couponbug.com, there's even a coupon this month.

For drinks- I always have success with love martinis, which is a copycat from the Melting Pot.  Its Malibu, peach schnapps, and cranberry juice shaken with ice and served in martini glasses.  If you feel ambitious, float a couple strawberry slices!

  • Ok so for snacks I decided on:

    1. Rosemary spiced nuts

    2. A cheddar/ raspberry cheeseball with crackers

    3. Homemade spicy crackers with cheese cubes

    For drinks:

    1. coffee (with or without Baileys/whipped cream)

    2. Spiced Apple Cider on the stove

    3. sodas

  • For our cookie exchange, we are having 8 grown-ups plus some toddlers so each have been asked to bring 5 dozen.  (1/2 dozen per person to take home plus 1 dozen for tasting)

Besides the cookies, we are having

    Apples with peanut butter dip.

Crudites with roasted red pepper dip (Mahumara from epicurious.com) and Hummus (packaged)

Homemade soft Pretzels with spicy mustard (made the day before)

Homemade biscuits with jam (made the day before but cooked then to be hot from the oven)

four kinds of cheese (Cheddar, Smoky Gouda, Roquefort and Cranberry-Walnut Goat Cheese)

mini-quiches of mushrooms or bacon or spinach

Hot Chocolate au Rhum  (for the grownups)

    Chocolate Milk (for the kids)

    Lemonade (for whomever).
