Re: VENTS go here!

  • My much longer vent:

We're going to the wedding of H's family friend on Saturday.  For about one million reasons, I am not excited (she's marrying a Chicago athlete that doesn't know that she dated so many OTHER Chicago athletes, he was married to someone else WHEN THEY STARTED DATING, he was only married for 6 months the first time - around a year and a half ago, they got engaged in July and announced their pregnancy in September - but had "no idea about the pregnancy" when they got engaged Confused - because who wouldn't want to jump from one marriage to the next, right?). What really grinds my gears about the whole thing is that MIL is more excited for this wedding than she was for her own son's.  She's a super-huge fan of the team this guy is on (and, for the record, he's not even a starter or anyone important, really) and won't stop talking about all the players that will be there.  And keeps reminding H not to ask for autographs.  Number 1, we don't give a shiit.  Seriously, what are we going to do with autographs of sports players?  Number 2, WE'RE FANS OF THE RIVAL TEAM! Even if it was the team we root for, we still wouldn't care.

We don't even want to go, but MIL RSVP'd for us (yes, the general "family" invite went to their house even though we obviously don't live there).  She said, and I quote, "I just want you guys to see a nice wedding."Indifferent  I know she's not TRYING to be spiteful, but REALLY?  I don't know, lady, our wedding was pretty freaking nice - with no ulterior motives or anything!

I could go on and on about my distaste for these family friends and the person they bring out in MIL (the family friends have a lot of money, according to MIL, so she's always talking about all the nice things they have/do.  PLUS she's visited the soon to be married couple's house just to see how extravagant it was - she told H on the phone yesterday that she wants him to see it, too.  He said no thanks) - but I'm sure you've all stopped reading by now anyway. Stick out tongue

I have a feeling I'll get a little tipsy at the wedding and say something like, "WOW - I wish ANYONE was this excited about our wedding!" with a big smile. Or ask MIL for HER autograph!  Hahahahaha

  • ick Nora, that sounds fabulous.

Vent: today I spent 45 minutes teaching one of my classes how to use a ruler... I had to show some of them how to measure 1 7/8 inches.

  • Nor- please ask your MIL for her autograph, that would be hilarious!

My (long) vent is about the customers that come into our store.  There's a printable $10 off $10 coupon floating around the Internet.  There's also a $5 off $5 printable, too.  They're printing off huge numbers of copies and expecting to make seven separate transactions so they can use all their coupons and essentially get everything for free. UM, NO.  Not ok.  We're not going to do that.

Then they get all huffy, say, ok, I'll do these items with this coupon, then when that's done they try to do another transaction after I already told them they can't.  It's one coupon per household per day.  Then they get REALLY mad, leave their stuff on the counter and start leaving in a huff.  Like they think I'm going to call them back and say, "nevermind it's ok."  It really makes me laugh now to see them leaving like that.  It's not like we're losing money by them leaving, it's more like we're saving the product for someone who actually is going to pay for it.

One lady, who was not thin if you know what I mean and was wearing a belly shirt, came in with her six kids.  They each had a five dollar coupon, spent half an hour picking out stuff, and then she wanted to use them all.  No way Jose!  She was a peach.

Overall: I just wish people would remember that the person on the other side of the counter is a human being, too.  It's worse this year than last year, my stress level is getting pretty high.

W.T.F.  I'm assuming it says "one per household" on the actual coupon, right? Why are these people so friggin dumb?!?!

    That's aggravating.

I feel this way about my job, although I'm not in retail anymore.  It's really draining to be constantly complained to and yelled at for things that are out of your control.

At least it's almost time to move to the most exciting state in the U.S.! Stick out tongue

  • I don't think it actually says that on the coupon but we made that rule.  I think HMK is regretting putting this thing out on the Internet in the first place.  It was an e-mail coupon that someone whited out the e-mail portion and HMK (stupidly) agreed to take the ones without e-mail addresses on them.

Also, people, we don't take photocopies of coupons.  Come on!

And yes, hopefully by next week we'll have an official start date for WI.  I'm excited to move, but from my research is looks BOR-ING!
