  • Hmnmmmm...I wonder if he will go to Denver? I don't believe he could actually retire from sports...
  • I'm more interested to see who will replace him...

  • maybe he's going to coach the Broncos lol.
  • And now, rumors are starting again that OU head coach is going to Florida. Oi.

Now that people have mentioned it, I wonder if he's going to Denver, too...it'd all make sense...

  • I think Stoops (OU) and Mullen (Miss St) are at the top of the list, according to the rumor mill at least.

I've been hearing Mullen too...wonder if there is any truth to that...it would be very interesting...

  • Aw. I always really liked Urban Meyer. Plus, he's got a cool name. But, considering what happened with him last year and his reason this time being family, I highly doubt he goes to the Broncos.

My feelings would not be hurt to see Stoops leave OU. Not one single bit. I doubt it happens, though.

End of season shake-ups are always fun. As long as we get to keep Dana Holgerson for at least one more year.

We have been lusting after Dana Holgorsen for quite some time...I was hoping we'd bring him in as a replacement to Addazio, but who knows what will happen now.

I totally agree.  I wouldn't mind a single bit to see him leave the big 12.  Although he has been mentioned for so many positions that I doubt this is the one that gets him to leave OU.

  • 1. I wouldn't mind if Stoops left, either, but I doubt that'll happen.

    2. I've heard rumblings that OSU already worked out contract stuff with Holgerson. Here's hoping that's true.

I sure hope so. Not only do I think he is a completely fabulous addition to the current staff, but I may have the slightest crush on him and his mad-scientist hair and his pretty eyes. Ha! But, seriously, I will be completely shocked if he's still here in a year or two.

Juuuuuuust kidding. Sports Animal's saying Holgerson interviewed with Pitt today. Damn it.

  • Why would Stoops leave Oklahoma?

    Why would Stoops leave Oklahoma?

He was DC at Florida before he started coaching at OU in '99. Rumors have flown the past couple of years that he'd go back if an opening came to pass...but doubt he'd actually leave. He's a great coach doing big things at OU. Hopefully, they can break the Fiesta Bowl streak and actually win it this year.

I know he was DC at Florida, but IMO OU to Florida would be a lateral move. It's easier to win a national championship at OU since you don't have to compete with the SEC. (No offense intended to the Big 12--I am a Big East fan so I have no room to insult any football conference!)

I didn't think Stoops had strong roots at Florida, just three years as DC. I guess I figured that a significant pay raise would probably be the only thing to lure him away from OU.

ETA: I don't keep up with UF/OU coaching rumors, so I believe you....it's just hard to make sense of as an outsider.

  • Looks like Muschamp from Texas will be the new coach.
  • RBP, looks like your boys might be getting Holgorsen! JEALOUS.

Gah. I hope not! Please, NO!

Either way, I do wish something would happen one way or the other. I'm kind of tired of all this "he's going to UF, Miami, WVU, Pitt, etc". I really want to keep him... at least for one more year.

You are on top of these rumors before I am! I think this is a good thing, if it is true, as there is a lot of Stewart-related discontent in WV. Rich Rodriguez, though he turned out to be spawn of Satan himself, got us accustomed to a higher level of play. When the Big East is as shitty as they've been the past few years, it's embarrassing when we can't even win the conference.

Only because people on the Gator message boards have been practically tracking his (and every other coach who was ever rumored to come to Florida) plane.  Wink
