Re: **Jaime**

  • I was chatting with an ex this afternoon and his wife stays home.  She's only 30 and she just chooses not to work.

I think it's silly.  Sure they CAN afford it...but he works like 50 hours a week, what does she do with her time?  They just moved to TX a few months ago and she says she'll try to find a job after the holidays.  I can't imagine being in a new city, no local friends and with my husband working a lot and not WANTING to get out of the house for some adult time!

  • Holy cow in that situation I don't think I could SAH. I would go crazy. At least here I would have people that I can go visit and places I know I can go.

Sorry for being nosy. I figured it wasn't off the top of your head and had to be some interesting reason.

  • Don't apologize!  I just didn't want to 'overshare' the situation to get some responses.

I personally think it's ridiculous and if they're making $x with just his salary then I think they should be making $x+$y and having more disposable income to do things with.

He also said he's not even sure what she does all day!  Ugh!  I would be pissed.

He thinks she's motivated to go back to work after the holidays because he put their remodel on hold since he didn't feel stable enough.  Well duh!

  • I think if I was a SAHW I wouldn't just be home all day, or I would for sure go crazy. Maybe she is exploring the city or something. I don't know. I guess some people see it as happy wife, happy life and figure if they can afford it, why not? right?

I guess it is touchy, but I figure to each his own, right?

One of Ken's friends makes really good money and his girlfriend quit her job, moved in with him and did nothing. He was fully supporting her and still paying for a cleaning person. We could not figure it out. But hey, it worked for them.
