*IUD*

Can anyone give me some insight on the insertion of the iud. I am having mine put in in a couple weeks, and I am very nervous about it. What does it feel like... do you feel it at all??? Anything anyone has to offer is greatly appreciated. TIA!

Re: *IUD*

  • Yes, you definitely feel it. First they "sound" your uterus to measure how deep it is. They have to open your cervix up a bit and then they have the IUD inside a little tube. The put the tube into your uterus and the IUD goes in. You'll have cramps afterward. I would take 2 800mg ibuprofen beforehand and probably the rest of the day off. Are you scheduled to have it done during your period? That's the best time because your cervix is softer. GL! Hope that didn't make you MORE nervous :)
