How to package cash as a gift?
My parents are giving my college-aged sister who is travelling to India for the summer cash in local currency as her Xmas gift. My mom asked me for ideas on how to package but ruled out any ideas I had (not in a wallet/purse as they already bought a ton of gifts for her for Xmas this year, not in small bills rolled up or stacked as it's too much to carry, not the Martha Stewart's folded mens' shirt as she didn't like the idea).
Any other ideas on how to creatively package? Not sure what denominations, but I'm guessing somewhere around 10 to 20 actual bills to be gifted. TIA!
Re: How to package cash as a gift?
Hmm. I liked the wallet/purse idea. It could be a cheap wallet/purse that your sister can donate after if she doesn't like it.
I gave my parents money once for Christmas. I just stuffed it in a small box and wrapped it.
The scavenger hunt sounds like a lot of fun!
A bunch of my coworkers and I gave another coworker money for her bridal shower. We got a vase of flowers and stuck the bills in among the flowers.
Wrap them around a brick or other heavy item, then wrap that.
Stuff it inside a clear ornament and wrap that.
I like this idea!
My brother did this to me once before. Except, he put my money in a tupperware container and then froze it in a bucket of water. It took me forever to get it out. I was pissed.
I love this idea!
Ditto, I also love this idea. It's something she'll actually use, isn't terribly expensive, and I've suggested it to my parents that they stick the money between the pages of the safe travelling tips...lol...they are SO nervous about her travelling there. She's 21, has been pretty sheltered and is going for a few months, part of it alone, and my dad's very old fashioned about ladies travelling alone, I think he'll like the guidebook idea. Thanks!
You're welcome!
BTW, I was born and raised in Edmonton
