Cleaning DC17 Cyclone

Fellow Nesties, I need your help.  Does anyone know how to clean the cyclone portion of the vacuum?  I've cleaned the canister (of course), the filter and all the other areas where clogging could obviously occur and my vac still sounds clogged.  I've spoken with Dyson CSR's, to no avail.  So I happened to look in up the gray portion of the cyclone and noticed that all of the little holes inside are filled with "yuck," mainly carpet fibers and dog hair.  How does one clean this out as I'm almost certain that this is my issue?

Thanks!

Re: Cleaning DC17 Cyclone

  • If it is anything like my ball you simply remove the cyclone portion from the canister (mine has a little gray hinge on the back), take out the filter and leave the top hinge open.  I then use my sprayer on my sink to spray water from the top down, into the sides of the cyclone area, from the bottom of they cyclone up towards the filter area, pretty much everywhere.  I do this until the water runs clear and then sit it out to dry.
