is this a dumb gift idea?

So my plan is, to blow up some pictures I have taken around the surrounding coastal area. Some are from Hwy 1 up near Big Sur (not quite that far north but only about 40 mils south of it) and then some flower pictures, like close up ones and I am planning on to heading down to the beach for some tide-pool pictures and then framing them and giving those as gifts. And each person or couple will have a different photo. Or in some cases groups. Is this stupid? or a really cool idea? And they are nice pictures (its really hard to take a bad picture of the coastline) and I may do some in black and white we shall see. But yeah...that is my plan....

I would like it. I love pictures like that especially when someone I know has taken them, it makes it that much more meaningful.

Are you just doing a photo? Or are you planning on matting and framing them? I think if it is framed nicely then it is a nice gift, otherwise kinda chintzy.

yes they will be framed. otherwise, I agree, just giving random pictures is lame. but matted and framed makes it more special

If the photos are of places or things that the recipient likes/you two have been there together and have fond memories. Otherwise, I don't know if I'd hang random scenery photos. I have several similar shots, that were gifted to me by family members and each has significance.

I don't know, I think it's difficult to get a gift that someone expects you to hang in your home unless they know you and your style really well. I can't think of many places I could hang a random picture that may not go with anything else I have.

I would love getting that! Especially if I knew that someone I knew took the photo it sort of has a story with it. good idea.
