family/1st birthday shoot location ideas

i don't know why i'm drawing such a blank over this, but we've got our shoot with crissy farah coming up soon and i can't think of anywhere to do it. ?i don't want to do the typical beach shots, we've already nixed disneyland, and are considering possibly griffith park. ?plus, the teen digs the idea of the hollywood sign in the background. ?:/

got any cool ideas for me?

Re: family/1st birthday shoot location ideas

  • I'm so jealous!  I sooo badly want to have Crissy take our pics too.  I love how she uses relatively simple things, places and makes them into artsy photos.

Maybe a carnival or Kidspace is by you.  Here's a listing of events... http://www.theorangecat.org/calendar/checkit.php

  • I think the rides on Santa Monica pier would turn out cute.
  • what about home?  or have you already been there, done that?  of all the professional pics we've taken w/ ellie, we adore the shots taken in her room, playing with her favorite toys, eating lunch at her high chair, all of us on our big bed, etc.  i'm all about capturing everyday life/stuff.

either that or maybe at a cute diner or something?  you guys could even dress up for the part.  too engagement picture-y?

in any case, i can't wait to see how the pics turn out!  GL!

  • I think Griffith Park would be great!  I bet you could get some beautiful shots at the Observatory.

What about the Disney Concert Hall?  Whenever I come across engagement photos done there, I am amazed by how stunning the pictures are with the concert hall in the background.  It would be awesome for a family portrait...I love its sleek, modern, and industrial look.

The downtown library might be a good location too.

  • Claremont Colleges

    A farmer's market

A local park with the baby playing on the swings and slides

  • Greystone Manor in Beverly Hills? They have some really great shots of the L.A skyline, rolling hills, ponds (including a cool turtle pond), gardens, etc..
