Streaming Netflix?

Hi! I'm a lurker with a question for anyone with netflix. We're debating signing up, but I'm just curious...can you get any movie streamed or are there only some titles available this way?

 Thanks!

Re: Streaming Netflix?

  • You mean where your wireless internet signal allows you to stream to your television right? We've had it for a little over a month but are considering canceling. We haven't been super impressed with the selection of television shows and movies available. So to answer you question, its not any movie, there are select ones (its a lot but many are really old).

  • Yeah, through the wireless internet signal is what I meant. The amount to rent a movie can be a lot....and adds up quick....so I'm just looking into other options. Thanks for your input!

  • I don't know much about Netflix, but we have Blockbuster Online and love it. We get two movies at a time and can have them for as long as we want. And we can take the ones we get in the mail into a Blockbuster store as an exchange (so we can have that as long as we want too). When we return the in store movie, the mail us the next movie in our queue. I love it. It usually only take 2-3 days to get a movie once they mail it.

I think Blockbuster Online also has some streaming capabilities, but we aren't set up for that, so I don't know anything about how that works.

  • Definitely not every movie, but it's getting much better. We love it. We watch way more TV than movies on it, though.
  • We love Netflix streaming.  DH loves the documentaries and historical stuff.  I like all the foreign films and 80s movies.  They are getting more and more newer stuff everyday :-)

  • I have it and LOVE it.  We stream through our PS3 (when it is working) or our Wii and I think I like it through the Wii better.  You're not going to find new releases on it but they do have a fairly extensive collection of movies available to stream.  DH and I have been watching Dirty Jobs lately.  I refuse to get cable because it is just an un-necessary expense for us but I can justify the small fee for netflix instead.  DH would be a couch potato if we had cable which is my main motivation to avoid getting it.
  • Love it! We stream through our PS3. We just finished Supersize Me tonight and also watched the Babies movie. I can usually find something I'm interested in watching although they don't usually have new releases.

  • We stream it to our PS3. It's fantastic for us. We've watched the first two seasons of Dexter, movies (but they don't have previews, which I wish they had!!), and next we're going to start Friday Night Lights.

  • One tip:  You can search for movies and shows that aren't on the main page under their pre-selected categories.  I found a bunch more movies and shows that were interesting to me that way than just browsing through their "main" page.
