This time it's for a good thing.
In his early 20's, J opened a LOC with MIL as a co-signer. The LOC was to buy his first car, which was the legendary 1969 GTO that was the catalyst for us meeting. Since then, the LOC is barely getting paid down because the bank that holds it decided to be a bunch of punks and now charges 19.95% interest every month, and we can only pay on one day of the month. If we pay even a day early, it's considered an extra payment and we'd still have to make the monthly payment the next day for it to count. If we pay a day late (which we've never done), they jack up the interest rate and the monthly payment goes higher and higher. As such, J's credit is in the toilet right now. Mine is a ways better. We've tried calling to negotiate with the bank, but even the supervisors won't budge.
I applied for a LOC with our bank and the manager helped me fill out the application correctly (I've never done this before) so we can do a balance transfer. We're supposed to hear Monday if I was accepted. I don't have much active credit history, so I'm a little nervous. I just hope Monday is met with good news. This would be an AWESOME Christmas present.
