Give me your best pear recipe, please!

But please note that I didn't say, "Give me your most complicated pear recipe, please!"

I'm totally open to any and all ideas. Maybe some sort of not-to-difficult tart? Or pie? Or something requiring frozen puff pastry/semi-homemade?

I received 6 of them from my company (along with a bunch of things bound to make me fat but happy) and I think it would be great to make something special and possibly, depending on how it turns out, bring it in to work.

Thanks in advance! I love you gals :)

Re: Give me your best pear recipe, please!

  • Oooh, I have a great (and easy) one! This is a recipe I found while we were in Greece this summer. I've made it several times and it's really yummy.

    Pear Pie with Honey

    Ingredients:

2 large pears (I go heavy on the pears)

    1 tsp cinnamon

    1/2 cup honey

    1 tbsp flour

    To top:

    1 cup all purpose flour

    1/2 cup honey

    1 tsp baking powder

1 shot soda powder (Not sure exactly what this means but I use 1/4 tsp baking soda)

    1 egg

1/2 cup lemon juice (can also use orange)

    1 tbsp butter

    3 tbsp olive oil

    Directions:

    1. Peel and cut the pears in medium-size slices. Grease the bottom of a non-stick baking dish with melted butter. Dust with flour and layer in the pear slices. Dust the slices with cinnamon and pour the honey over.
    2. In a large bowl mix the flour with the baking powder. Dissolve the baking soda in the lemon juice, add the whisked egg, honey, olive oil and the rest of the butter. Transfer the liquid mixture to the flour mixture and mix together.
    3. Pour this mixture over the pears. Tap the baking dish to ensure liquid settles between the pears and bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 40-45 minutes. When done, let pie rest for 10 minutes. Turn the pie onto a platter and serve warm (also fantastic cold)
