Looking for a good HD Camcorder

I was thinking of getting DH one for Christmas. He's always pointing out moments and things the kids do that we should record on something better than an iPhone.  Ideally I'd like something that interfaces easily with a Mac, has a hard drive and can burn things easily to DVD.

I've been reading reviews on the Canon Vixia HF R11 and I know that isn't the one for me because the reviews have been awful when it comes Mac usage and exterior noise.  Anything else good and easy to use I might be missing?

  • I just got the Kodak Playsport. It's one of those pocket HD cameras similar to the flip, but the quality is better. (You can see test videos on youtube). Oh and it's WATERPROOF! It loads the vids easily onto my Mac.

  • I got my husband the Canon Vixia HF S200 this past summer and he loves it. No problems or complaints.

We are also an exclusive mac using family and have had no issues with getting it on imovie to edit.  I know he had to change some settings on the camera to make sure it was formattable for imovie.
