New!

Hello everyone!  My husband and I are moving to the East Bay (Concord) immediately after Christmas, as if we needed more stress this time of the year, and we don't know anything really about what to do, where to eat, or any people out there either.  Fill me in on what's up, please!

Re: New!

  • Hello! I live in South Bay, but just wanted to say hi & welcome.
  • Hi and welcome. I used to live in Concord. There are lots of restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, canal trail (walking), open space areas for hiking and nature.

  • Welcome! Sorry I don't know much about Concord although my DH probably does since he grew up near there. GL moving!
  • In the summer you have the waterslides :)

Sorry, I don't know much else about Concord. But welcome to the area and the board!

  • The water slides sound fun!  Where are they?  And anything in the East bay area would be great, I don't have to have only Concord info.

  • Well, Concord is pretty far from where I lived Berkeley/Oakland/San Leandro. There's quite a bit in Walnut Creek, which isn't far from Concord. It's mostly on N. Main Street, so if you head down there you're bound to find something. DH recommends La Virage for fancy food. We also went to a good Italian place for our anniversary this summer, called Massimo's. The creme brulee was fabulous. There's also a place next to Stoneridge Mall called Vic Stewart's that is good high end steak house. Concord is also close to Pleasant Hill where there's a Left Bank, a fun French restaurant (not expensive).

Actually Left Bank closed down a while ago and it's a new restaurant, called Jacks. Good food but long wait on a weekend night. Concord also has two BART stations which will give you and DH easy access into San Francisco if you want to visit there.

Oh that's too bad. That's where the first knot GTG I went to many moons ago was. Some of my other recs could be outdated, too. We haven't been to LeVirage or Vic Stewart's in years.
  • Welcome!  There are actually a lot of girls on here from Concord.  On the baby board too.Big Smile
  • Hi and welcome! Where are you moving from? Where in Concord will you be living? It's a pretty big/spread out city! Are you working there too?

I used to live nearby and whenever we wanted to do something fun, we'd usually head to neighboring downtown Walnut Creek. Lots of restaurants, bars, a movie theater, great shopping, etc.

I haven't eaten in Concord in a while, but one place that I do remember from a few years back is Guadalajara Grill, near the intersection of Ygnacio Valley and Clayton Road.

  • I used to live near Concord - there is a lot to do in that area (Concord, Walnut Creek), particularly lots of shopping and restaurants. You'll be close to the Delta (via Martinez) also.

    Welcome!!
