I thought you girls could best appreciate this And it is my bday next week
My grandmother's best friend is ill and the friend's daughter (my mom's friend) had an estate sale before moving her into a home. Not a single one of the woman's silver serving pieces sold, so the company running the estate sale sold ALL of it to my mom for $50! I guess I have no reason to ever visit Goodwill again! lol Kinda sad, I'll miss the hunt :P
The daughter gave her mom's sterling flatware to the neighbor! OMG swoon. It's a pity, too, because her mom had chosen the same pattern as my grandmother since they were best friends - we would have gladly bought it from her to have two sets in the family. It is sweet enough to know that I have all of the woman's serving pieces and she was my grandma's best friend.
Here's what I did get. I'll never need to buy anything to entertain with ever again!
Hot beverage service (coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, sugar)
Water pitcher
Chip & dip
7 covered dishes
4 Revere bowls
5 platters
Butter dish
Gravy boat
Flower frog
Re: Complete AW - happy birthday to me
That is amazing! I get all swoon-y over the pieces I see on shopgoodwill but I get dissuaded from buying because I don't know the stories behind them--one of the main reasons for having heirloom pieces. Here, you have LOTS of meaningful pieces! Sad for the woman having to leave her home but score for you.
Also, big fat happy birthday to you!!
