After having a conversation with my ILs the other night it got me thinking.
My FIL does not wear his seatbelt. He says "they can't make me." I said "it's the law and they can and will give you a nice ticket that you will have to pay if you get pulled over"
My MIL doesn't wear hers either, only on the expressway....cus that makes sense.
SO -
Do you wear your seatbelt?
At all times?
If not, why?
Re: Seatbelt Poll
Do you wear your seatbelt? Absolutely always. And if you're in my car, you better be buckled up too.
I buckle up every time.
I also told them that if they want to continue to take B2 places they better start buckling up and starting to set a good example for him.
I always wear a seatbelt, I feel so weird without one!
My dad didn't make it a habit of wearing a seatbelt when we were younger. Apparently one day I learned at school that if someone loved you they would wear a seatbelt to save their life, so I asked my dad if he didn't love me since he didn't wear a seatbelt. He has worn one ever since! (I don't recall this, but my mom has told this story many times)
I always wear mine, I cannot even feel right driving unless it is on. Jeff always wears his too.
My grandma would never wear one though. She always said what your FIL says, they can't make me. Oh my dad would fight with her all the time over it because they drove them around, ugh!! I remember one time my dad was actually turned around fighting with her like she was a 2 year old over it. God I miss her crazy a$$.
I have totally done the same type of thing.
This. Alex even yells if I am backing up out of the driveway and don't have it put on yet.
I always wear mine...to the point where I have to make a conscious effort NOT to put it on if I'm just moving the car in down the driveway or something.
I was in an accident my freshman year of high school - the girl driving me lost control and her mini-van flipped over. When we stopped, we were literally suspended upside down. I couldn't imagine what would have happened if either of us didn't have our seat belt on!
This for me too
My mom used to never wear hers either for the same reasons, Angi. Whenever she'd be a passenger in my car, I wouldn't put the car into drive until she had her seat belt on.
I always wear mine. It's the very first thing I do when I get in the car.

My car does not come out of park unless every single person in it has their seatbelt on. This is something I NEVER compromise on, either...you don't want to wear it, you drive yourself. KP knows that her seatbelt has to be on before the car moves...a few times I have been hasty and started backing up out of the driveway before she was clicked in all the way and she has yelled at me "Wait, I'm not buckled in yet!"
Actually, when I was 15 years old I was joyriding around with a friend who had her license and we got pulled over and I wasn't wearing my seatbelt...and the cop wrote me a ticket. $100 ticket and I didn't even have my license yet!!! And my dad, being a cop, was NOT too happy about that. Ever since then I have always worn it, not only for the safety (which naturally I didn't realize the value of til I was older) but for the fact that it would be MORTIFIED if my father found out I got another seatbelt ticket!!!!
