How was the Polar Express?  Did you think that Eli was old enough to appreciate it?

Re: **SBTibbs**

  • It was fun! First of all he thought it was great that he was outside in his pjs! The actual ride was pretty short (30 min or so). There was enough action and distraction to keep him entertained. After a few minutes you stop and pick up the "elves" who pass out cookies and hot cocoa. He LOVED that part, of course. Then they sing songs and have you look out the window to watch for Santa as you approach the "North Pole." Once you get there Santa gets on and goes down the aisle talking to each kid. He is just starting to get the idea of Santa, so he was totaly mezmorized by him. Santa shook his hand and said he knew he had been a good boy then touched his nose. After Santa moved on Eli kept staring at his hand and touching his nose in total amazement. It was adorable. Then they passed out a bell to each kid, so shaking that was enterinament for the ride back. I think you can go inside the building after and get your picture taken with Santa, but we skipped that part.

I have heard that other Polar Expresses, like the one in North Conway, are much longer and more involved, so I think that would have been too much. We went on the 4pm one so the tickets were cheaper ($15ea) and kids 2 and under are free so, I think it was worth what we paid. Plus we went to Flatbread for dinner after- YUM!

  • I thought the tickets were way more expensive than that, which is why we didn't do it this year.  I am glad to hear that it was short and not too involved.  We will definitely do it next year.  Thanks so much for the review!

  • If you want more information about the North Conway one or ever do book tickets for it, let me know. My family has been "deeply involved" with it since the first year.

  • This sounds like so much fun and I can totally picture Eli's sweet little face as he touches his nose in wonder.
  • Susie,I heard the North Conway one was a lottery and you couldn't just buy tickets... is this true?  We were thinking of going and staying the night in North Conway with the ILs next year...

Yes. It has been so popular since year #2 that they have to do it that way. If your ILs live in the valley, have them put in for it as well since there is a local lottery. You'll be more likely to get tickets.

If you do go next year, definitely remember to tell me the details and talk to me first before you get on the train.
