TMI: IUD

I'm at my drs office right now about to get an IUD. Anything I should be warned about?

Re: TMI: IUD

  • nah - it's pretty quick, and for me it wasn't painful at all - just a little brief discomfort.  but it was done in a breeze.  i did feel "weird" for a few days, meaning it felt weird knowing that there was something in there.. but it did go away shortly after.  nowadays, i don't even think about it!  good luck!!!!
  • Good to know! Did you have it done when you have your period? My Dr does it now when I have my period. :(
  • Gosh, I don't even remember!!  I think it may have been about a week after AF...
  • Kind of late response but wanted to give you a heads up ....

Not sure if it is the same for everyone but I got mine put in on December 3rd.  Only had light spotting for a day but fast forward a couple weeks and I have had basically a very light period for a week and a half with no signs of letting up.  It appears they are serious that you could have "spotting" for 3-6 months after insertion.

Although it kind of stinks, it seems to be worth it to have to wear a panty liner every day but not have to worry about protection at all.  Really hoping the bleeding stops soon but we'll see.
