BRU Coups...

Tis the season again, apparently. I got two BRU promo things in the mail over the past week. While I plan on using a handful of the coupons for Molly's remaining necessities, the vast majority I will not be using. Please let me know if you need anything in particular and I can see if I have a coupon for it.

Only qualifier is that I won't be able to meet anyone anywhere since I can't drive. :(

Re: BRU Coups...

  • Okay why do I never get these mailings??   :(   We're still on the hunt for furniture, got any good ones for that?

  • Furniture coupon says save 10% on 1 pc, 15% on 2 pcs. or 20% on 3 pcs.

If Heather needs her furniture coup. I've got one I can send you! Just let me know :-)

  • I don't need the furniture one, K, you are welcome to it!
  • Thanks ladies!  So if you don't mind me totally hijacking ... here's my dilemma on furniture ...(xp from SAL and 3rd Tri, and yes, this decision is really stressing me out!)

We bought a white (convertible) crib from BRU and the dresser that came with it was too big. My conflict is ... should I get an inexpensive changing table like this and get the more "substantial" bedroom furniture for her when she's older?

Or should I get a nicer piece now, that will be more versatile and last longer?

And I should add that if we get the changing table only option, I'd have to put some sort of drawer unit in the closet because there's no room for anything else in the space, so I would need to come up with a solution for drawers.

  • Hey Kirsten!

That is the exact same (even the color) hutch/changing table/drawer combo I have for Evan in his room! I got the smaller dresser and crib that matches it too!

I would go for the bigger piece so she can have it when she is older, IMO.

  • We opted for a 3 drawer dresser in white. Anna's crib is white, not convertible. I'm happy to have drawers, but her clothes are mostly hung, so I can see my options. She grows so fast, that it's nice to see your choices without realizing at 4 months that there is a newborn outfit that you loved but didn't see in time to put her in (this is my issue & now thta i'm typing, it sounds crazy! haha).  In the dresser, we have: Top) socks, hats, burp cloths, Middle) onesies and random pull on pants Bottom) Next size stuff (that isn't in the Rubbermaids in the attic).  As for her closet, we definitely have room to put a drawer type thing in there on the floor, so I don't think we necessarily need the drawers in her room right now. Just my experience 4 months into this whole thing :)  Sorry not to give you a solution, but mybe this will help your thought process
  • We have a dresser/changing table combo (well, you know that, haha!) and I love it because as a dresser, it contains a ton of her clothing, and as a changing table, that part is right on top.  When it's no longer a changing table, it will be just a dresser which she's going to have for several years to come, at least till, I would say, age 7.  We'll have a lamp on top and other things of hers that you would put on top of a dresser.

Right now, we use the cabinet that's built into the middle as storage for extra diapers, wipes, and changing pads covers, as well as other little here and there things (diaper sacks, pail bags, sunscreen).  Later, we'll use it for further clothing storage.  On the top, we have cloth bins on either side of her changing pad that contain diapers, wipes, vaseline, etc.

I don't think you can go wrong w/ the combo.  It's definitely not a waste of space and given that you're going to have it for several years, also not a waste of money.

  • I had a combo dresser like that for Gabby and I loved it! It stored everything I needed (kept diapers/wipes in the door section, all her clothes in the drawers). It's a much better storage unit the the changing table could ever be. I just ordered one for Aidan since we no longer have Gabby's furniture.
  • Kirsten -

Either way sounds like a good option that would be fine...... if money is tight right now you could go with the simple changer and then wait until the baby is older to invest in some good furniture too.

  • Are there any toy coups?

How are you feeling, Miss Thang??
