What to serve along with NE Clam Chowder?
Hey ladies. I normally frequent thebump boards but thought I might get more response over here. I am having Christmas at my house but MIL insisted on bringing NE ClamChowder as the main course. I am at a loss as to what else to serve with it. She usually makes reuban sandwhiches to go with it but no one likes the reubans except for her..
I was thinking maybe a grilled ham and cheese sandwhich but I am not sure...What do you think would go well with the clamchowder?
TIA

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
What about ham/chedar biscuts? Still in your idea of grilled chesse, but much easier to make for a crowd, since the ham and cheese are mixed into the biscut dough before baking.
I guess the big question is, do you want to have it as a main? Or would you prefer it as a starter? Because if I really didn't want it as a main, I'd plead stupid and use it as a first course. Then again I may be biased because I hate the stuff.
Anyway, for a main I would get some good bread and cheese, and have some bacon and tomatoes. Then I'd make up some grilled cheese- plain or with bacon and tomato. I'd add a nice spinach salad- spinach, craisins, mandarin oranges, feta, red onion, sugared almonds, and balsamic vinagrette. Don't forget the oyster crackers too!
