Stores to hit after Christmas for a tree

I want to buy a large artificial Christmas tree for next year. I haven't been able to get out much this year with the girls to really compare them. My plan is to buy one the day after Christmas in the hopes of a catching a sale. Which stores should I try? TIA.

Re: Stores to hit after Christmas for a tree

  • In my years of after Christmas shopping, I haven't seen any prices better than 50% off. Target has their trees 50% off this week, so that may be worth checking out. I'd also look at Michael's, Home Depot, Lowe's, and possibly Wal-Mart.

  • All of the stores hopey suggested are great to try.  You might want to go now to scope out the inventory so you know if it is worth the trip later.  Our Targets (all three that I regularly go to) are almost completely sold out--all they have left are the smaller 6 foot trees.  I was just in Home Depot yesterday to buy something else and they have a sign up where the artifical trees WERE displayed saying they are sold out and would not get anymore in.  Good luck...they seem to be a VERY popular item this year!

  • Walmart, Target, Big Lots. You may want to check online too, in case the stores are sold out.

  • Do you have a Pool City in your area?  They have a huge selection of trees, and I'm guessing they do sales.  Not sure if they run after Christmas sales, but you could also check out Bronner's Christmas Wonderland online www.bronners.com.
  • Sears! We got ours last year. We got a $250 tree for $15!! (They were so cheap, we bought 2 of them!)

  • I am doing the same thing. I am going to check Target, Garden Ridge, Big Lots. Maybe Home Depot or Lowes.

  • Do you have a Paddock Pools in your area? They have really big trees there, and we got one a sale the day after Christmas a few years ago.
  • Thanks for the awesome info and suggestions! I just moved to Atlanta and never heard of Garden Ridge. We have one here! I'm looking forward to checking it out. My plan of attack based on hitting more sparse areas will be Hobby Lobby, Target and Sears. Thanks again!
  • We tried this a few years ago and there wasn't much left. If there was anything left, it wasn't what we wanted (ie. correct size, pre-lit, etc.) You may have luck if you're not too particular. In the end we purchased one the next year before Christmas when there was an excellent selection and used a coupon (Lowe's).
