Giant red bow?

Odd question, but does anyone know where I can find a giant red bow in the South Portland area? My cousin, sister, and I bought my parents a couch and recliner for Christmas and we're setting it up on the 26th while my dad takes my mom out for brunch. I thought that a big bow might be a fun way to "wrap it".

TIA!

Re: Giant red bow?

  • I have no idea, but what a great gift!  What about covering with a sheet and attaching a lot of little bows.  You could almost make a big bow by sticking the bows close together.  Or get yards or red fabric at a craft store and make it.  Ask a car dealership - they might have an idea.  :-)

  • Their 12 pound terrier mix destroyed their 26+ year old couch when my mom got the brilliant idea to lock her in the livingroom with a mouse. An hour later, the couch was basically toast. Ok, it's still usable, but the entire skirt is ripped off. My mom wanted a slipcover. But we knew she loves the recliners on our couch, so we just got her a new one instead.

Thanks for the ideas, Jess. I checked out car dealers and there are stores online that just sell car bows (really?!?!?). But I'm going to check around on Thursday when I'm out in So Po anyways. Worst case, I'll buy a big thing of ribbon and ask my MIL to help me make one on Christmas when I'm at their house anyways. We have a big plan in mind for the big reveal so putting a sheet over it won't be necessary. We'll be doing Christmas on the first  floor and she won't even see it until we suggest going to watch one of the movies we bought her.

P.S. Do you know if Jill is "coming home" to her mom's for Christmas?

  • Oh, Oh!! Michael's craft store! They had some big ones yesterday! Look in the fake flower section. Kind of near the desk in the middle where they make up the displays of flowers...I know they had a giant red sparkly one that Brielle and I were commenting on...

I swear I did almost all of my christmas shopping there this year. I think they may owe me something, right? I mean I've been in that store literally 4x in the past week...
