The more friends who jumped onboard with my little Christmas cheer project, the more excited I got... and the further I started searching for more co-conspirators. While chatting with a friend of mine in England, I asked if she would be willing to print out an image and mail it to my giftee. She was more than happy to do so, and mailed out the newspaper clipping the following day.
This may come as no surprise to most of you, but I had created an Excel spreadsheet so that I could keep track of all of my messages and images for Pam. I didn't want any repeats! I actually had something for every state, even though my initial inquiries were not that extreme. I also had a few accomplices in different countries (other than England).
I had Christmas co-conspirators who actually agreed to help me in the following places (but I don't know whether they all sent their letters/etc.): Arizona, Bahamas, California, Connecticut, DC, England, Florida, Georgia, Greece, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin...
My messages ranged from random Christmas lyrics (The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping" was one), plays on the state's name from where it was sent (like, "Idaho ho ho!"), to Pam quotes ("something fuckingfantastic"), to jokes (offering to record Mariah's holiday special for her), and everywhere in between.
Some images played off each other... For instance, she was sent an autographed image of Mike Rowe that read "Stay Dirty" and another image that was an inspirational poster-style image of Santa Claus that read "Naughty or Nice? I'm going to need a dirty list!"... Yeah, I created the inspiration poster ![]()
Some images were very innocent (in part because of who I had sending them). So, Pam received a Christmas Scooby Doo, and a rubber duck in a garland nest (Christmas at the Nest), and Christmas Pamcakes.
