recommend your vac

I am in desperate need for a new vacuum cleaner and although I would love to have a Dyson or an Electrolux, it's just not in the budget.

I have fairly thick carpet and a chocolate lab that does a great job of shedding.  I would like to have a bagless, but it needs to have some good suction.

My budget would be under $200.  What would you recommend?

We have had a Bissell Healthy Home for over 2 years and like it for the most part. It's the blue version and it came from Target. Can't remember exactly how much we paid, but not much over $200 I don't think.Pros: Good suction, Attachments are convenient, Canister is easy to emptyCons: Heavy, Front part gets clogged fairly easily (we have a mild-shedding dog and I use the baking soda carpet powder every time, so it gets a bit clumpy at the front part near the brushes)I have also heard great things about the Furminator if you don't already use that for your pup. They are pretty cheap on Amazon. HTH!

I have a bissel healthy home, and a bassett hound who also loves to shed not only his dark hair on the light carpet but his light hair on the dark couch. I love my bissel because it is possible as a way to save money to remove the filters and wash some of them with soap and water and dry them in the dryer to kill any other stuff (like dust mites) and replace them so you don't have to buy new ones all the time. It picks up all the hair and has more than enough attachments to get into every nook and cranny that dog hair can find a place to live.

we have the shark navigator, and it is amazing with its pet hair attachment.  we have two cats that shed pretty hard-core, and it always gets the job done.

I can't help you with other vacs - BUT-- I know they sell refurbished Dysons at places like overstock and brick stores like Ollies - I have two dyson refurbs - one for about six years now at the other house and have had zero trouble with either - both a animals (purple) and clean great. Plus they must have been priced ok - becasue i'm not one to spend lots of money.

I have a $40ish Dirt Devil from Target and a chihuahua-pug and I like my vacuum just fine. You could never see my dog's hair on my carpet, but it is pretty easy to see on a black rug I have and when I vacuum the rug it gets all the hair in two passes at the most.

girl save up and get the dyson its totally worth it! especially since you have a shedding prob with your dog
