Garden planning

Has anyone started planning their veggies yet?  I've been playing around with maps and checking out seed packets...  I've clearly been cooped up inside for too long.

Re: Garden planning

  • All my seeds failed last year except for a brave pepper plant that gave me one tiny pepper.

I started mine in February I believe.

I am going to just wait and buy the plants already started in the spring. I am horrible at getting seeds to sprout and stay healthy. There's not enough grow lights in the world for the darkness of our house.

Same here. I'm either going to sow seeds in the raised beds or just buy transplants. Indoor seed starting isn't my forte.

  • yes!  I asked for a *ton* of seeds for xmas & am going to order more!  It's a sickness.  I'm not sure what I'll plant *this year* though...
  • Once the holidays pass then I am going to start planning next years garden.  Not all of my seed catalogs have come in yet.

  • I haven't started yet - but I've been thinking about it.  This year I wanted to get some grow lights and start my own plants from seed.  I really want to try to grow enough food this summer so we can be mostly sustainable, but I don't have a lot of space.

  • DH is supposed to be building me a raised bed this winter so I can get started in early spring.  We're also going to move my rain barrels to the backyard for easy watering now that my front yard perennials are established.  I tried growing tomatoes and strawberries in pots last year and the tomatoes got some sort of rot disease and the strawberries only put out a couple of really small fruits.  I'm hoping 2011 will be better.
