Re: Wanna help narrow down my menu?
Apps:
Rosemary Skewers
Salmon toasts
Artichoke spread on rye
Sides:
Pear and pomegrane salad
Potatoes
Green beans
If you want another side, I'd do the mushrooms.
For apps- I love the rosemary skewer idea but in practice it seems like it's going to be time consuming and expensive (to get all of that rosemary). I would do the skewer, but just get some long toothpicks with festive stuff on the end. Be sure when you dress it you don't get the ends though, Who wants to pick that up?
Every party needs bacon so I'd do the tartlets. Everything you have on the list except the shrimp has dairy so I'd be sure to do that too. Unless the mushroom pinwheels are dairy free, but there is no recipe. I'd still keep the shrimp though. Artichoke dip/spread is a little overdone in my book so I'd leave that one out for sure.
For dinner I would do the following combinations:
Roasted potatoes (because every meal needs a potato), carrots, and either the broccoli or the squash. That will give a starch, a plainish veg, and a cheesey veg.
OR
do the roasted veg (that will include a potato, carrot and the squash), the green beans, and the broccoli
The salad I would take or leave. If you have time and money and inclination go for it, but I don't think it would be missed. Plus it could be hard for that many. The mushrooms make me think app not meal. Unless your are precutting or using small mushrooms it's one more thing for people to cut, which isn't the best when perched.
Apps:
Tartlets
Skewers
Asparagus
Toasts
Sides:
Broccoli
Roasted potatoes
Salad
The apps need more labor; the sides can be pre-prepared or just prepped then thrown in the oven. Maybe swap out one of apps for a dip or something else that could be prepared all-in-one. Right now, most of them need individual assembly.

Madelyn, you're the only person who's picked the cream cheese and pepper jelly and you're from Auburn. Love it! lol
6, I do have a rosemary bush. I wasn't even thinking about the qty required and the cost, but since I've got my own, it's cheap! And good call on the dairy - I hadn't thought of that either. I just don't know many people with allergies, so it's not a top thought for me.

Does being from Auburn/Alabama/the south have something to do with it? I'm just curious...I guess I don't really know...
I've never had pepper jelly over cream cheese before but I've had raspberry chipotle sauce and it is awesome, so I figured the pepper jelly would be similar. My MIL always serves the raspberry chipotle sauce over cream cheese..and she lives in Iowa
ETA: I'm not originally from here, I'm from Minnesota so it may be a southern thing and I just don't know it. Ha!

I always thought it was a deep south thing. I certainly never saw it before coming here and I've lived in a couple states up and down the east coast. But if your MIL from Iowa serves it, then I really have no idea...!

If you have the bush, then definitely do the rosemary skewers! I was just picturing buying 20 things at the store. I've done something very similar, but also added a cheese tortellini to the skewer.
I have some people that are lactose intolerant or just don't like it so I try not to cheese everything up.
For apps I like the shrimp cocktail, the asparagus spirals, and the skewers.
I'm from the North and know about the cream cheese and pepper jelly, so I don't think it's a southern thing, or if it is it's made it's way up north.
I prefer cream cheese with Harry and David's pepper relish though. A good mix of sweet and savory.
For sides, I like the green beans with caramelized onions, roasted potatoes and the salad.
I really have no idea either. I don't have a clue where she got the recipe...she did live in Kentucky for awhile years ago...but other than that, just the midwest.
