Is its too much to ask?

I know men will  be men. and xmas shopping isnt their thing. believe me, i get it.

but for real? Dh hasnt even stepped foot near a store yet. I know he doesnt have to get me much - i mean really its not that big of a deal. But still... i kinda go all out for xmas. I LOVE XMAS. Is it too much to ask to put in some effort?

  • I'm with ya!!

DH did go out with me over this past weekend to get some of his family's gifts, which was nice.  But really it's b/c he hasn't done a THING and poo-pooed all of my online suggestions until it was too late.  Otherwise, he's done basically nothing. :(

The one present he got me so far is the one he made me pick out and order myself....  And it's already here and put together (it's a cat tower/tree).   I think he ordered me something else online last night, but I doubt that will be here.   <Unless of course he's lying and actually has been secretly shopping, but I doubt it>

It's not like I'm some super-awesome-santa, but at least I try!

  • I don't think Timot set foot yet in a store but I know he did order me something online and has been wrapped and sitting next to the tree for over a week!

BAH it's killing me!  I screwed up and already told timot what I got him for christmas cause I'm an idiot.  But I think he'll like it anyways.  Some walleye players were wrapping gifts at the arena and so I got him a new hat and had Keefe sign it.  (his fav player...awesome) Keefe also wrapped it for me...haha

It's also under the tree but it's not from me...it's from Spike...haha

  • If Ken had not had three days off last week he wouldn't have any shopping done.

What bothers me is he sticks exactly to the list I give him and I don't get any suprisesSad I wish he would just try to pick something out himself!

  • I usually have to give Sam a detailed list of what I want for Christmas for him to get it right. This year I won't get anything (we're focusing on the kids more, plus I've bought a TON of crafting stuff already this year), but next year I'd love to be surprised.

(then again it's really hard for him to surprise me with anything... he tried to surprise me with our engagement but I could read him like a book.)

  • Mine's always been that way, lol.  This is our eighth Christmas together and this year is the first time he's gotten my gifts more than two days before Christmas!  He went out on Sunday and got it done...  He usually goes Christmas Eve after begging/asking me all that day for ideas...  Confused

Now, I understand this year, being that he's working a million crazy hours with his new job, but he managed to actually get it done on time...  But, I've taken care of every single gift we've purchased for everyone else.

  • Uhh I hear ya. My FI hasnt even put any thought into what he is even getting me. Last year he was out shopping the day before Christmas Eve and even on Christmas Eve. This year he is planning on going tomorrow so at least its a little earlier than last year. He keeps asking what I want and I have given him numerous ideas yet he still hasnt done anything.

  • Embarrassed  Hopefully no one hates me for what I'm about to say . . .

I guess - this is where I'm really lucky.  I mean REALLY lucky.  Birthdays - Christmas - Anniversaries - DH actually listens to me and will go out and get me something based on something I may have said or that he witnessed. For instance - when we first started dating or maybe when we were first married - he noticed that I was always cold - he went and got me gifts to keep me warm.  Another year - I had raved and raved about the new hair salon I had been going to - he went and got me gift certificates for that place - that time it was probably months before Christmas that I was raving about it - but he still remembered!  Whether it be 3-days ago, 3 weeks ago, or 3-months - the man hears me and will 90% of the time follow thru. There are times I can't even believe how thoughtful he is!  When it comes time for Christmas - I actually have a hard time thinking about what I want - let alone figure out what DH wants.  DH always seems to come thru though!  It's almost like our roles are reversed!!!  This year it's actually ME that feels bad because he knows everything that he is getting.  I don't know what I'm getting and I also see it wrapped and sitting under the tree, which is ALSO killing me!
