Stocking from Santa or Parents

This is probably a silly question but I honestly cannot remember how it works. This is the first year that DS1 understands about Santa so I am trying to make sure that it is perfect. I cannot remember if the stocking is "supposed to be" from Santa or if it is just known by kids that their parents stuff the stockings. It has been so long since I was a kid believing in Santa.

So...is the stocking from Santa or from DH & I?

 TIA

Re: Stocking from Santa or Parents

  • I don't remember how we did it when I was little, but my gut says it's from the parents. I guess it depends on what you put in it. We had nuts and fruit and candy, which is very different from what I see going in stockings today so I don't know if that changes anything.

Same here. We do SS's the same way. Stocking is from Santa he gets some microwave bags of popcorn (he loves it) and then a few small toys.

  • According to the poem Twas the Night Before Christmas, the stockings are from Santa.  This is how it was for me growing up and it will be in our own family.
  • Definitely Santa... "The stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there."
  • Having a blended family, in the years that Santa comes to our house for my Skids the stockings & presents are from Santa. In years that he goes to their moms house the stockings and presents are from me and DH.

  • Santa. We usually only got stockings and then 1 or 2 other small things from Santa. The rest was from our parents. To this day, 'Santa' still 'delivers' the stockings to my parent's house, with the contents wrapped in white paper. It's just a tradition.
    Life is good today.
  • i don't know anyone who does it from parents.

The whole "night before Christmas" story even says "he filled all their stockings then turned with a jerk".... Santa does it! :)

  • When my siblings and I were young enough to believe in Santa, they were from Santa but my mom kept filling them for us from her and my dad after we stopped believing.
