any holiday cockail recipes?
I'm looking for some tried and true holiday cocktail recipes that are not too heavy (eggnog, cream based drinks). Any ideas for me? tia.
Re: any holiday cockail recipes?
Holiday Madras
2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
2 cups orange juice (without the pulp)
1 1/2 cups vodka
1 cup ginger ale
Mint leaves
Cranberries
On the night before the party, take an ice cube tray. Place one mint leaf and one cranberry in each cube. Gently fill tray with water. I generally make three trays.
On the morning of the party, twist tray into a glass pitcher (mine is 8 cup). Add all beverages and mix gently. Refrigerate until dinner. We have dinner at 2 pm. (Yes it is early but this is a New England thing). The ice will gently dilute the beverage over time. The fancy cubes look festive and the punch is loaded with vitamin C since December is cold season. If we have a lot of children at the party that year (On alternate Christmases, my brothers go out of town to their respective inlaws), I will make a non-alcoholic version by omitting the vodka.
At my holiday party last weekend I made something someone on here recommended a few weeks ago called a Poinsetta. It was cranberry juice, vodka, and champagne. I love champagne in anything, so it was tasty.
I served it in glasses rimmed with green rimming sugar to make it look more festive. It was cute!
On Sunday at a cookie bake a friend made mulled wine and that was also very tasty and seasonal. Not necessarily a cocktail, but might be another good option.
An old-timey classic cocktail, French 75:
For PP who loves champagne cocktails, and maybe OP will enjoy too!
in a martini shaker with ice combine 1.5 oz Gin and .5 oz simple syrup, shake well. Drain into a sugar rimmed martini glass and top with your favorite champagne. WARNING: my family calls these brain erasers or truth serum, so enjoy in moderation!!!
Here's something really easy:
This will serve about 15 people so double or triple ingredients as needed.
2 64-oz jugs of cranberry cocktail juice
1 2-liter of ginger-ale or lemon-lime soda
1/2 bottle of raspberry flavored vodka (or more if you like)
3 oranges
1 lb of cranberries
Keep liquid ingredients cold until preparation. Freeze cranberries and oranges for a few hours. Slice oranges, put cold ingredients into the punch bowl then pour the cold ingredients over.
