Hey ladies- I need some advice/help. Tonight when I was walking to my bus (downtown MPLS) a huge piece of ice fell and hit me in the head. There were no signs and I was dumbfounded when it happened. I was right by the post office, so the worker there brought me in and called the police. The paramedics came and took me to the hospital where I got 4 staples in my head. I am at home now and doing okay besides the splitting headache I have.
What I need help with is who to call in MPLS about this? I believe the police came as the ambulance I was in was pulling away but I am not sure. Should I call a lawyer, my insurance? I am really not sure what to do and any advice would be appreciated.
Heads up to all, be ware of falling ice. It hurts like heck!
Re: HELP and heads up
I suppose it depends on what you hope to gain from the call.
Do you want medical compensation? Do you just want to notify whomever owns the building?
Regardless, that sucks. I was walking downtown St. Paul once, and a piece of metal fell from a construction site on the top of the Wells Fargo building and hit my backpack... literally inches from my head. Talk about luck.
I'm so glad you are ok and weren't hurt worse!
I would contact the building off which the ice fell. If you aren't sure, I would get the police or EMS report to find out where exactly you were. I think the building's insurance covers things like this, so you should talk to some sort of building manager, if you can.
