Home Builders

Happy Holidays everyone! Ive recently moved back to this area and hope to be a more active board participant once my life simmers down, but for now Im using you for your advice ;P

DH and I are going to be starting our house search in early 2011 and Im looking for advice on local home builders. We're considering both resale and new construction but new construction is the part we've never experienced before so I have a lot of questions on that! Do you have any rants or raves for local builders? We're currently interested in communities built by Stoltfuz and Charter Homes---any comments?
Thanks!

Re: Home Builders

  • Which area are you looking to move to?  We live in Mechanicsburg and have a new construction in a fairly new neighborhood.  The homes are built by Ryan Homes and so far, we love it!
  • We'd like to stay in the Mechanicsburg/ Camp Hill area but havent narrowed it down too much beyond that just yet!  Our favorite neighborhood is Walden in Mechanicsburg--the feel of that community is a lot more like our old place in Philly than anywhere else we've found so far. We currently live near Winding Hills and that seems like a good fit for us as well. The only development by Ryan that I know about is Rivendell--can you suggest others to check out?

  • I'm a little late to post this, but I live in Walden!  It's a great neighborhood.  Like you, we were drawn to it because of the aesthetics and the whole "planned community" feel.  It's different from any other neighborhood I've seen in the area.  We built last spring/summer, so if you have any questions, please let me know!
Our little man is finally here!
