Droid Phones - please help!
DH and I are going in the morning to the Verizon store to get new phones! Freaking FINALLY! He's upgrading from a yucky old flip phone and I'm upgrading from an evil blackberry.
We are looking at the Droid Incredible vs. Droid X. And maybe even the Droid with the slide-out keyboard (don't know what it's called).
What are your thoughts?? Is a fully touch screen phone good or bad for texting (sometimes we can only talk via text when he's at work)? Which phone do you have/like/want? Why?
Thanks ladies!
Re: Droid Phones - please help!
I have the Driod w/ the slideout keyboard. It is very heavy since it has the keyboard. I am starting to get the hang of the touch keyboard, but I can't text quickly on it because I constantly hit the wrong letters. One nice thing is it has voice texting, but sometimes puts wrong words if they aren't spoken clearly. Which is hard if you are congested! I don't care for the actual keyboard. The letters are difficult to get used to. I had a Propel from AT&T and I loved the keyboard...more like a Blackberry's.
Be careful, you'll get addicted to Apps! Someone here mentioned the Angry Birds...now I'm addicted to that one.
DH has the X and he loves it.
Hope this helps in anyway.
I know you didn't ask about it but I have the LG Vortex because it was just $80. I wanted the HTC Incredible, but we agreed I didn't need to spend that much on a phone.
I like it for the most part, but the facebook app sucks and just crashs all the time. I've only been able to use it once in the few weeks I've had the phone. I keep meaning to get a different facebook app.
The thing I don't like is that Verizon defaults to 3G even if there's wifi which means you use your data to download stuff, when it would be free on wifi. I didn't opt for unlimited data so of course this is a concern for me. DH is on ATT with his iPhone so he doesn't have this issue because ATT is over burdened on their networks so they drive people to wifi first.
Just kind of interesting.
DH got a Samsung Galaxy S, which is a Droid technology phone. It's a touch screen. It's pretty sweet. The touch screen keyboard takes a bit to get used to but I think it would be just as good once you get the hang of it. He had a phone with a slide out keyboard before and it was just fine too. I think it'd totally be up to what you feel most comfortable with!

Thanks ladies!! The phones are BOGO through tomorrow, so we will be saving a lot of money going together (which is why I waited until now when DH's phone is ready to upgrade - mine has been eligible since May).
I'll let you know what we end up with

I have a Droid 1..the one w/ the slide out keyboard (the new one is basically the same). I love it. I rarely use the touch screen for texting, so I'm glad I have the keyboard.
My mom has the incredible, so I've played with that a lot. It's just as good if you can manage with just a touch screen it's nice.

Is unlimited data the 29.99/mo? That's what I have now with the BB. I'm going to have to play with both phones tomorrow morning. Lucky Chris's work paid! That's awesome! I'm so excited for the morning!
