New Year's Eve

We are hosting our annual New Years Eve party at our house this year. We want to make this year's party stand out and even better than last year's!

Anyone have ideas on how to make this party great?! The guests are mostly mid 20's, no kids, some couples, some singles! TIA.

Re: New Year's Eve

  • Can you tell us a little bit about years past, i.e. food, drink, decor, so we know where the bar is set and where/how to go to make things even better?
  • This might be lame, but you could totally have "minute to win it" games the winning team could win a bottle of wine or something.  I think that would keep everyone entertained while waiting for the ball to drop.

You could do a couple specialty drinks.  At the bar, frame the recipie instructions so people can make them on their own and you don't have to.  Have a bunch of different fun apps for food.

  • Good drinks and amazing food will make your party.  Set up your bar with fun options (mixers, garnishes, etc) and have a ton of yummy apps.  You can always set up some games (apples to apples, cards, taboo) and if people go for them, great - if they prefer to chat, don't push the games.  Make sure you have a great mix on your ipod for background music!

  • We had an "Resolution" Party, where you eat/drink everything bad, and then give it up for the New Year.  It can be a potluck party to make it more pesronalized.

  • Paradise two years ago i had a wonderful New Years Party ! I decorated all the doors in the home like presents in silver and i wrapped the door with a gold ribbon.(as you would a regular gift box. the bathroom had gold accents, towels etc. The sink I filled with silver and gold floating candles. If you dont mind the clean-up you can add medium sized confetti all over the floor..Also it would be a good idea to make party favors with a $20 gift card or lottery tickets. Make sure you have selective wines, red, white, mixed. Also for guest who dont drink make delicious virgin martinis. Happy New Year and Love one another .
