If you have used a Pampered Chef Stoneware: Help

I haven't used mine since I first got it over 6 years ago and can't remember how to.  I have the rectangular stone and a metal piece that it sits on.  How do I put it in the oven?  Does just the stone part go onot the oven rack? Do I take out the oven rack and put the whole thing in or is that metal part for when I take it out of the oven?

Please tell me exactly how to use this...thanks

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I don't want to do it wrong.

  • i have no idea what metal piece you're referring to, but the stoneware should be fine just being placed right on top of the racks in your oven.  you can really treat it just like any other cookie sheet or ceramic casserole... until it comes to the cleaning.
  • Is it the pizza stone? We put the stone on top of the metal holder and put both straight into the oven. This makes it a breeze to get the stone out of the oven. If you don't use it, it's a pain to get the flat stone out of the oven.

  • The metal piece is just for easy lifting--the stoneware can go right on the oven rack or with the metal piece.
  • Also, when you wash it, don't use dish soap! Just hot water and the nylon scraper that came with the stone will get it clean. The stone is porous and will absorb the soap.

  • I presonally put the metal rack in the over with stone. but the biggest thing is you want to pre-heat the stone before you say put a pizza on it!!!! Otherwise it will stick a be a mess. (My H did this.)

Mrs_I_may08  is completely right No Soap!!

    Happy cooking.

i was always told to not preheat PC stones. what is key is seasoning it (i.e., using it several times w/lots of oil or w/greasy things, like buttery crescent rolls) and it will make it non-stick, like non-stick coated pans.
