Hi! I am a new baker and have just started working with fondant. I decided to do red (store-bought) on Devils food and I wanted it to look holiday themed. However after we got the fondant on the cake, I noticed it looked quite dull and wanted to add some sparkle.
Hoping to 'redeem' myself, how do you add sparkle to fondant? Can you get something at Michaels or Wal-Mart to add a little pizzazz to it? I did write Merry Christmas in Sparkle Gel but....
Guess I watch too much Cake Boss. :-)
Thanks!
Re: Fondant needs help!
The way I add it is with a product called luster dust. It is usually available through professional pastry/food suppliers (Albert Uster). Pretty sure you won't find it at Walmart. I would just leave it alone. Less is more in my professional opinion.
ETA: If you want to add holiday flair, use green fondant to make holly leaves for the top. Some silver dragees would be nice too.
