What to serve for a cupcake themed (kid) Birthday party?
We will be inviting adults and kids of all ages. Any ideas welcomed!
Re: What to serve for a cupcake themed (kid) Birthday party?
I'd stick to the theme, but not really go with it for the food - then you worry more about presentation than taste, which isn't so yummy. What about finger foods with condiments served in cupcake liners - perhaps chicken fingers with a few dipping sauces (sweet and sour, honey mustard, ranch, bbq, ketchup along with individual mac-n-cheese baked in cupcake liners. Or, just go with good old kid food (bagel bites, pigs in a blanket, chicken fingers) and don't worry about matching your food to the theme.
I will be cooking, and a few family members might bring something. The party will be in early spring (most likely too cold be outside). We will probably have around 40 people including kids. It's DD first Birthday.
My typical response is to make food that sounds good and you can make. Don't try to make things fit a theme, but not a cohesive menu. Use decor and invites and such to set the tone.
You could certainly do what pp mentioned and serve some things in cupcake liners, but would want to go to party and just eat chicken nuggets? You could do a couple of apps in liners though. I have seen some thigns that you bake in cupcake tins- meatloaf, mac and cheese, stuffing. You could do these, but add sides or a nice main that may not necessarily go with the theme, but will taste good.
Would you consider Paninis? You'd need a couple of machines to keep them coming? You could provide a variety of breads, meats, sauces, cheeses.
Your family members could bring the sides: salads, chips, etc.
Just a suggestions. Good luck!
Cupcakes of course!
I make mini-cheesecakes in cupcake pans (you use a vanilla wafer in the bottom for the crust). You can also make mini quiches and other fun appetizers in those pans.
Here's mac-n-cheese muffins I want to make some day...seems like they would fit a cupcake theme party!
